General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Parsea is designed so teams can extract structured data from documents without compromising trust.

Parsea processes personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in effect since May 25, 2018. The GDPR strengthens protections for people in the European Economic Area and sets clear rules for organizations that collect or process personal data. Transparency is central to how we operate. Together with our Privacy Policy, this page summarizes how we approach GDPR for the Parsea web platform at parsea.io and the "Table Capture By Parsea" browser extension for Chrome and Edge.

What personal data does Parsea collect?

Depending on how you use our products, we may collect or process:

  • Account and profile data: name, email address, and profile image when you sign up with email or Google. We use these to identify your account and send service emails (verification, password reset, receipts).
  • Document and extraction data: PDFs or images you upload to the web app, the structured fields we extract, and metadata you add (for example collection names and share links). This is stored so you can review, edit, export, and share your work in the dashboard.
  • Technical and usage data: information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and in-app actions. We use cookies for login and may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and PostHog) to understand product usage. Session replay may run on logged-in dashboard areas as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Extension processing: when you use the browser extension to capture a table, a screenshot of the region you select is sent for processing. We return the result to you and, as stated in our Privacy Policy, we do not keep that image on our servers after that operation.
  • Payment-related data: managed by our payment provider (for example Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on Parsea servers.
  • Messages you send us: content of contact forms, support emails, or sales inquiries.

If you submit information about another person (for example a document that names employees or customers), you should have a lawful basis to do so and, where required, inform them.

How do we collect your data?

Most data comes directly from you when you:

  • Create an account, log in, or purchase page credits.
  • Create collections, upload documents, or use our public extraction and AI reader tools where offered.
  • Use the browser extension to capture a region of a web page.
  • Contact us, subscribe to updates, or submit a lead or pricing request.
  • Browse our marketing site (technical and analytics data).

Why do we process personal data?

We process data to:

  • Provide document extraction, collections, exports (Excel, CSV), and sharing features you choose to use.
  • Operate authentication, billing, fraud prevention, and security.
  • Respond to questions and support requests.
  • Improve reliability and usability of the service, including through aggregated or usage analytics.
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations where they apply.

As noted in our Privacy Policy, we do not use your uploaded documents or extracted results to train third-party AI models for general model improvement, and we do not sell your personal data.

Who processes personal data?

Data may be processed by:

  • Parsea team members with a need to access it (for example engineering or support).
  • Vendors who help us run the service under contract (hosting, email delivery, payments, analytics), only on our instructions and with appropriate safeguards.
  • Authorities when we are required to comply with law.

How long do we keep personal data?

  • Account and documents: kept until you delete them or delete your account. You can remove individual documents or collections in the dashboard.
  • Support and sales messages: kept as long as needed to resolve the thread and meet legal or business record-keeping rules.
  • Billing records: may be retained longer where tax or accounting law requires.

Signed-in users can request account deletion and a data export from Account settings.

Our legal bases for processing (summary)

  • Performance of a contract: running your account, processing uploads, delivering exports, and billing if you purchase credits.
  • Legitimate interests: securing the platform, understanding aggregated usage, and responding to inquiries, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent: where we rely on consent (for example certain analytics or marketing cookies), you can withdraw it later. Details appear in our Privacy Policy and cookie controls.
  • Legal obligation: when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

Your data protection rights

If GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
  • Rectify inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
  • Erase data in certain cases ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict processing in certain cases.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Receive your data in a portable format where technically feasible.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.

To exercise these rights, use Account settings when signed in.

International transfers

We may use service providers in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or rely on adequacy decisions, together with supplementary measures where appropriate.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No online service can guarantee perfect security; we work to reduce risk as our product grows.
